There are many different organisms found in Isle Royale National Park. The bottom of the trophic level contains sunlight. All organisms get energy from the sun. From there it goes to producers, then to consumers.
(Producers)
Isle Royale has trees including balsam fir, white spruce, paper birch, aspen, and mountain ash. Thimble-berry is a common, abundant shrub found on the island. There are also blueberry, raspberry, and sugar plum shrubs. Less common shrubs include bearberry, prickly rose, and juniper. There are over 600 species of flowers. Moss, fern, and lichens are also present on Isle Royale.
(Consumers)
Less populated species include frogs, toads, and salamanders. Known species of birds include the Sharp-tailed Grouse and Sandhill Cranes. Burbot (a type of fish) is found in the water all around Isle Royale. Fish also existing in a majority of Isle Royale's waters are lake trout, salmon, rainbow smelt, cisco/minnows. Mammals include bats, fox, wolves, otters, and weasels. There are also moose, rabbits, and rodents.
Frogs and rodents are examples of secondary consumers. Wolves is the example of the highest level consumer.
